ScALp est né en 1967 en France, fils d'une mère expert-comptable et d'un père peintre et écrivain. ScALp a été élevé dans un environnement familiale où l'art et la culture - musique classique, jazz, littérature, arts graphiques - avaient une place essentielle. Elève dans plusieurs établissements du XVIeme arrondissement de Paris, il a comme compagnon de délires Pascal (le fils de l'acteur Jean Lefebvre). ScALp fait sa rébellion. Punk, déjanté, guitariste au style tronçonneur et torturé, il se perd sous Paris dans les catacombes, où il y fait des concerts sauvages avec plusieurs groupes Punk, mais plus encore s'isole du monde en perdition des années 80, une sorte de descente aux enfers où traînent plus d'anges que de démons. Puis voici le temps venu de la Trance, cette musique électro aux rythmes lancinants. Son envie de découvertes l'entraîne en Amérique du Sud où il ressent pour la première fois la misère humaine, puis en Asie, au Japon, où il s'imprègne tant bien que mal de cette culture très codifiée. Photographe, créateur d'images d'une société décadente et torturée, ScALp ne la rejette pas, se préférant le témoin et parfois l'initiateur de cette décadence, par un traitement d'images et une prise de vue onirique et parfois dérangeante. ScALp a fait le choix de passer outre les dogmes et les lois photographiques, ne cherche pas à plaire aux masses, cherche à aller au fond des choses, au plus près des perversions et des reflux de l'âme humaine.
